The Effort Medical Clinic has been a core element of The Effort’s operations since 1970 and is a key part of the healthcare safety net in Sacramento County. Licensed and certified by the State Department of Health Services as a community clinic, the clinic focuses on Medi-Cal patients, the working poor and other uninsured/underinsured populations. The clinic’s philosophy is to provide quality medical care to every client regardless of gender, race, age, lifestyle, or social status. Our non-judgmental attitude allows patients who would normally avoid obtaining medical care to come in and have their problems identified and dealt with in a professional manner. We also have behavioral health services available – including mental health services and substance abuse treatment.
The clinic provides comprehensive primary care including Family Practice, family planning, well child care, immunizations, sexually transmitted disease diagnosis and treatment, HIV testing and counseling, and breast cancer screening. The clinic provides services to 5,000 low income, uninsured, and underinsured patients annually. Staffed with physicians, family nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and medical assistants, the clinic is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Appointments are readily available and patients are also seen on a walk-in basis during evening hours. We accept Medi-Cal and we also use sliding scale fees, meaning your fee is based on your income. Many services, such as family planning and well child exams, are free.
The Effort Community Health Center is open Monday through Friday from 9:00am-9:00pm.
